Interest begins for OG Hawkins

Offensive guard Terrell Hawkins out of Fort Washington (Md.) Friendly holds one offer from Howard. That may be just the tip of the iceberg for the 6-foot-4, 330-pound lineman as his recruiting is picking up.
"I've only got one scholarship from Howard," he said. "I have been talking to other school including Delaware, Maryland, Boston College, Virginia and Hampton. A lot of schools are just finding out about me since I transferred and my previous school didn't send my transcript and records.

"Once I get those records, I think a few more schools may start offering."
A few schools have already caught the lineman's eyes.
"I like Maryland, Hampton and Oklahoma is kind of my dream school," he said. "I like them all, but my motto is I'll go to any school that'll let me play if they are paying me on scholarship."
Hawkins touched on what he wants in a college.
"Of course I want a good football team," he said. "I also want to get a good education and somewhere I can be myself. I want to be comfortable and feel needed. Location does matter a little bit."
The Maryland lineman is versatile talent for Friendly.
"I'm playing a mix of offensive guard and offensive tackle," he said. "I think I'm the perfect guard, but I'm also picking up my play at center.
"My size is my strength. I've got good height and my footwork is pretty good too. I'm not the best, but I'm ready and willing to do things on the field. This year has been big for me because I've been surrounded by better coaching. I wish I would have had that earlier on, then I'd be a much better lineman."
