Interest begins for JUCO linebacker

With February's National Signing Day approaching quicker by the day, the time is running out for the late sleepers in the class of 2010. Almost all high school, junior college and prep school seasons are now over and if any new interest is to be sparked, now is the time. At Franklin (Mass.) Dean Junior College, one such late blooming prospect is working to spark just that interest and he may be catching some eyes.
Tenerio Davis, a 6-foot-2, 215-pound linebacker is done with his junior college career and is on the hunt for a four-year program to continue playing football. Just last week Davis began sending out his film and momentum may slowly be building.

"A couple of D-II schools are calling and offering me," Davis said. "I don't have any major offers right now just schools looking at me and evaluating."
Among the schools that have been showing some initial interest is the University of Tennessee.
"They called me one day and said they had seen my film and liked it and are going to stay in touch and call me when they're supposed to call me because that's all they can do is call me," he said. "It's nice but I can't really get too excited until they offer me a scholarship. I'd be interested from a scholarship from any school. I'm just trying to get into school."
Davis is qualified and ready for the spring semester where he will have two years to play two seasons for whatever school he lands at. He is currently living at home in Decatur, Ga. where he graduated high school from Southwest Dekalb in 2007. Davis went to junior college out of high school to get his grades straightened out and continued to dominate on the football field.
Last season, Dean Junior College had the nation's number one defense and followed that up with the number three ranked defense nationally this season. For his part, Davis is a complete backer that can do it all.
"Statistically I don't really know what I did this year," he said. "I had about 10 or 11 sacks. I balled out. We all balled out. I play middle linebacker and sometimes they put me on the edge to rush the quarterback. I do everything well. I blitz. I hit hard. I'm good in pass coverage. Everything a linebacker is supposed to do, I do. I do it all."
