Orange (Texas) Little Cypress-Mauriceville offensive lineman Marvis Brown III has been enjoying the recruiting process and taking in as many experiences as he can.
College coaches have been staying in touch with the standout 6-foot-4, 320-pound lineman and he has even had a chance to meet with several coaching staffs. Over the weekend he received his first scholarship offer from Tennessee State. It was a big moment and one he will not soon forget.
"I felt relief because I finally got my first offer, and I was really happy and kind of living in the moment for a little bit," Brown said.
In addition to Tennessee State, Brown has also received significant interest from TCU, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, ULM, Louisiana-Lafayette, and Louisiana Tech, and he has already had a chance to visit several of the schools with plans for a few more stops.
"I went to Louisiana Tech's junior day, I went to Oklahoma State's junior day, Kansas State's junior day," Brown said. "I visited Missouri the day before I visited Kansas State's junior day. I went to Louisiana-Lafayette's junior day and I visited Louisiana-Monroe, and I'm supposed to visit Tennessee State this summer. I might go to Sam Houston State and the University of Houston."
He also has a few summer camp plans in the works.
"I'm going to the Oklahoma State camp, the Louisiana-Lafayette camp, and I'm the Texas camp too," Brown said. "Those are three I'm definitely going to."
Brown is not ready to name a leader in his recruitment, but he does have a few preferences.
"Well I practice center sometimes and I sometime I play it, but I most of the time play tackle and guard," Brown said. "They just ask me which one I prefer and I always tell them guard. Most of them are looking at me for both. I like to pull and come up on the edge and hit people."
Brown also has a good idea about what he is looking for in a future college destination.
"I want to be treated real well and know that I'll be taken care of away from home," Brown said. "I want to get a good education there. I want to major in business and have a minor in kinesiology."
