Inland Empire standout looking for fist offer

Athlete A.J. Springer (5-11, 170, 4.5) from Fontana (Calif.) Miller is having an outstanding senior season playing quarterback. His team was undefeated until last Friday Evening's showdown with still undefeated Redlands (Calif.) Redlands East Valley in a thriller 28-27.
"A.J. rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns while throwing 225 yards and two more touchdowns," Miller coach Jeff Steinberg said. "He accounted for all of our scoring.

"Right now A.J. and Chris Polk are the two standouts in the county," Steinberg said. "And in the biggest game of the year, they both stood out.
Though Springer is having an outstanding season as a quarterback passing for 1,532 yards and 16 touchdowns passes to go with 1,353 yards rushing and 20 more touchdowns on the ground, no one however, at this junction are looking at him as a quarterback and he has yet to receive his first offer.
"I think the reason A.J. doesn't have an offer is D-I schools were waiting to see his athleticism," Steinberg said. "When you averaged over 300 yards of total offense per game, I think his athleticism is showing.
"Right now Utah, Utah State, UNLV, Boise State, San Diego State, Arizona State and Oregon State are showing interest," Steinberg said. "He doesn't have any visits set up yet, but he is in the process of setting some visits up.
"UNLV, Utah and Utah State have been talking to him about setting up some trips," Steinberg said. "Whoever gets A.J. will be getting an outstanding football player.
"A.J. has a great change of the direction and has unbelievable football smarts," Steinberg said. "He will likely end up as a corner on the next level, or maybe a cornerback.
As a junior, Springer was a two-way standout who earned second-team all-county and second-team all-league from his quarterback position after throwing for 1,108 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also rushed for 776 yard and 13 rushing yards.
From his cornerback position, Springer accounted for 15 tackles and two pass deflections.
