Inglewood corner about to blow up

Look for three-star cornerback Devian Shelton (6-0, 185) from Inglewood, Calif., to blow up the recruiting trail this fall. Everyone who coaches him, whether it be Inglewood high or B2G, sing his praise.
Henry Bell, co-founder of B2G said he is one of the best corners he has ever had through their program. Inglewood high assistant coach, Khalid Ali is just as impressed with Shelton.

"Think about the Raiders defensive backs of the 1970's," Ali said. "George Atkinson, Jack Tatum, Lester Hayes, he is like them. He is old school and he's aggressive.
"Since I have been at Inglewood," Ali said. "We have not seen the combination of speed, agility and power.
"Devian is so tough that we he was able to play defensive end for us when he was in the tenth grade," Ali said. "He has taken that tough defensive line mentality to the cornerback position.
"A lot of times you either get that tough corner that is good against the run and so against the pass or a guy who is a lockdown cover guy, but doesn't like to mix it up," Ali said. "That's not the case with Devian. He is a lockdown cover corner who will come up in run support and knock your head off.
"Devian is the complete package as a corner," Ali said. "We love how he sets the tone for us.
"To give you an indication of how willing and athletic, Devian is," Ali said. "In the second round of the playoffs last year we needed a running back and Devian stepped up to the plate.
"In 27 degree weather up in Paso Robles and against a tough football team, Devian rushed for 98 yards and two touchdowns," Ali said. "He was able to do that without ever playing a down of running before."
Not only is he athletic, but a quick study. Even though he has the athleticism to play several positions, he is being recruited to play corner on the next level.
Shelton has offers from Arizona State, Washington State, Idaho, New Mexico, Utah State, SMU and San Diego State.
According to Ali, Shelton is getting recruiting attention from schools such as Arizona, USC, Nebraska and Tennessee. The word is Arizona could be offering soon.
Ali said that the reason that colleges like Shelton is his height, long arms, strong build and he's extremely fast.
