Indiana WR makes it official

Valparaiso, Ind., three-star receiver Jeff Samardzija has made up his mind, and not too many were surprised with his decision.

Samardzija, who is 6-foot-4 and 190 pounds, committed to Notre Dame just moments ago at a news conference at his high school.
Samardzija picked Notre Dame over Purdue, Northwestern and Indiana, who also extended scholarship offers.
He is a big, fast over-the-middle receiver that has been tremendously productive through his high school career and should be a good fit for Notre Dame’s new passing attack.
Samardzija’s decision wasn’t officially announced until the news conference on Monday afternoon, but word began to leak out over the weekend of his decision when he notified the other schools on his list of his decision and officially made the call to Notre Dame.
“It’s been a long time coming,” he said. “And I’ve been thinking about it for a long time. But I’ve committed to the University of Notre Dame.”
Samardzija said a lot of little things led him to his decision.
“It was how they take care of players – even when you watch at practice,” he said.
“It was just a step above the others. They treated you like you were already on the team even though you were just a recruit.”
