Indiana OL visits Northwestern

A Saturday visit to Northwestern for their home football contest against Purdue left Newburgh (Ind.) Castle 2017 offensive tackle Bryce Bailey impressed.

"I really liked meeting all the coaches," Bailey said. "They've got new facilities underway - I think they broke ground on that Friday - but it is going to be right on the lake. I like the atmosphere and I loved campus."
Bailey had previous contact with Northwestern's coaches prior to his visit, but appreciated the opportunity to talk with them in-person.
"I talked to Coach (Adam) Cushing, the offensive line coach, a little bit," Bailey said. "He was asking how the season is going. I've exchanged messages with him on Twitter a few times and it's been cool getting to know him. He said focus on finishing our season strong, and when that is over focus on the recruiting process more."
When Bailey's season does finish, he plans on taking a longer look at Northwestern and possibly making a return visit.
"I also did get invited up to one of their bowl practices," Bailey said. "They said they definitely want to have me back up to talk with the coaches more since it's not going to be a game and I'll be able to meet more players and coaches."
Ball State is the only school that has offered Bailey at this stage of the process. Prior to Northwestern, Bailey made game visits this fall to Indiana, Western Kentucky and Marshall.
"I get a lot of mail from IU and I've gotten a handwritten letter from one of their recruiting coordinators," Bailey said. "I've been up to a number of their games so they definitely know who I am and I think the relationship is there with them.
"Their basketball program has had a lot of success and I followed that. Their football program more recently - since middle school - I've been following them."
The 6-foot-5, 290-pound Bailey is playing left tackle for Castle High this fall. His team is 8-4 and earned a berth into the semi-states after winning a regional championship last Friday.
