Indiana first to offer Horton

Since his breakout performance at the Cincinnati VTO camp last April, West Chester (Ohio) Lakota West class of 2014 running back Mikel Horton has been considered one of the Midwest's top backs. Earlier this week he landed his first offer of the process from the Indiana Hoosiers.
"I went to my coach to talk about it and he said that it was official," Horton said. "I am excited about it and plan on making a visit down to their campus."

Horton has a connection to Indiana through former Lakota West star Dawson Fletcher, who know plays defensive back for the Hoosiers.
Since last spring, Dawson has been hearing consistently from schools like Ohio State, Wisconsin, Louisville and Michigan.
"I got some new ones - Minnesota is talking to me now, Mizzou is talking to me now and Purdue," Horton said. "I hope there is a domino effect that happens with the offers, but I'm just sitting back and enjoying the ride. A college is a college to me. Whoever offers me, I am very grateful for it."
The only school Horton has visited this fall is Cincinnati and he plans to also be at the Bearcat's game this Saturday against Syracuse. Horton is also looking to visit West Virginia this month and plans to attend Ohio State's home contest on Nov. 24.
Lakota West finished their season a week ago, with the 6-foot-1, 228-pound Horton tallying 1,003 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns on around 155 carries in nine games.
