"I'm just working on my 40 especially the first 10 yards for me," he said. "I'm just looking to correct my scores there and stick to my regular strength work. I hope to get a lot better at the West Virginia combine."
The 6-foot-4, 240-pound Thomas still doesn't have any favorites.
"I have no idea yet, every school has something that sticks out in my mind," he said. "I'm still trying to figure out what I want to major in and that may play a big role along with what schools offer. I've always enjoyed marine biology and I'm also interested in teaching so that I can coach high school football as well."
Despite not having any favorites, Thomas did say he is paying close attention to the state schools and universities in neighboring states. What does the lineman think about Virginia and Virginia Tech?
"They both interest me because of their location. I went to the Virginia-Miami game last year and UVA really impressed me in that game," he said. "While Virginia Tech is huge, it blows my mind how everything is so well organized and the coaching staff is really cool and they stress being close to players and players families, I like that. It's just a well built program and the coaches have been there a long time.
"Both of the schools are great programs year in and year out and definitely impress me, but any school that contacts me I'll look into it and see what they offer academically."
Thomas is also hoping to receive more interest from the Hokies?
"I'd like to hear more from Tech because of the prestige of their program," he said. "That visit for the Nike Camp really turned me on to their program. I'm also hoping all the other schools show more interest too."
During the offseason Thomas is getting ready for his final year at James River.
"I'm working on my long snap practicing that four or five times a week and the team is lifting weights three days a week. Our receivers are also staying back to work on their hands and reactions, I think the team is really coming together," he said. "Everyone's goal is to win the district championship, but I hope I can also be named all-state."
As for his position at the next level, Thomas can play either way.
"I'm interested in playing anything really," he said. "I catch on pretty fast, but mostly I'm getting looks for defensive end and defensive tackle. I can also play offensive tackle and I really don't have a preference, because offense you get the job done, but defense you knock heads around. I like them both."
This summer the lineman expects to head to camps at Richmond and Virginia.
He should easily qualify with a solid 2.75 GPA and 1080 SAT.
Last season Thomas was named all-district as he recorded 63 tackles and eight sacks.
