In-state offer nears for Grant

The first scholarship offer could be around the corner for Austin (Texas) Lyndon B. Johnson safety Derrick Grant.
With spring practice ushering in new interest, TCU, Rice, and Texas A&M have all been showing increased attention in the 6-foot-3, 191-pounder. One of those schools has said that his first offer should be arriving soon.

"I should be getting one this week from Rice," Grant said. "I found about that on Friday. I was excited."
TCU has also been showing interest and Grant says that that's just one of several camps he plans to go to.
"Coach (Mark) Tommerdahl came by the school from Texas A&M and I'm supposed to be going to a lot of camps this summer," Grant said. "I'll be at the Oklahoma State camp, the Rice camp, the Texas A&M camp, the UTEP camp, and the TCU camp.
"I'll probably make a decision sometime before the next school year."
Grant, who says he's being recruited as a free safety, is looking at "academics" and school "tradition" as factors towards making his commitment.
