In-state defender talks FIU pledge

Panama City (Fla.) Bozeman defensive end Chandler Burkett made a commitment earlier this week to an in-state school.
"I am committed to FIU," Burkett said.

Burkett chose the Golden Panthers over offers from Florida Atlantic, Maryland, and Troy, as well as a greyshirt offer from South Florida. He talked about what set his future home apart from his other options.
"I was just comfortable with their coaching staff," Burkett said. "They really impressed me a lot.
"I liked everything about the school," Burkett added.
The 6-foot-4, 225-pound defender visited Florida International recently. That visit played an integral role in his decision to commit.
"I visited there for a camp in June," Burkett said. "The camp was real good. I just had a good vibe with all of them. I liked the way they talked to me, interacted with me, and coached me through all of the drills. I just felt good about it."
When he arrives at South Florida, Burkett will be used as an edge-rusher in the defensive scheme.
"I will play defensive end and a little hybrid linebacker," Burkett said.
Burkett says he is now done with the recruiting process.
