In-state battle for Utah star

Layton (Utah) Northridge three-star safety Chris Washington has suddenly become a hot target with both of the in-state schools. After picking up an offer from BYU, he quickly picked up another offer from Utah days later.
Now the 6-foot-1, 187-pounder has a tough decision ahead.

"I talk to BYU about once a week, and I went up there a few times," Washington said. "I have gone up there three times this summer. It's just a nice place with a good football team. They are hard to not like. Utah is up there, too. I haven't made a decision yet so we will see what happens. Me being from Utah gives them an edge, but it won't be the deciding factor."
To help him better make that decision, Washington said he plans to visit both schools a few more times.
"I will probably end up going to both a couple more times," he said. "It'll help me make the right decision."
Washington is getting attention from Arizona State, New Mexico, Oregon and Oregon State also. He said he would love to get some more love from the Pac 10 schools, too.
"I would love to go to maybe a PAC 10 school. Maybe Cal or Oregon State, something like that," he said. "No PAC 10 schools have really contacted me. So it's just open to whoever now."
Washington admits a decision could come sooner, rather than later.
"I have seen both places a lot, but part of me wants to see what might happen with a Pac 10 school," he said. "So we'll just have to see how it all develops."
Washington also picked up a big honor over the weekend when he was named defensive MVP of the B2G Camp.
