IMG 7-on-7: Top performers

Recruiting wrap: A Miami commit, Bruce intends to visit Florida State this summer. Even if he decides to break his commitment to the Hurricanes, it's unlikely that he will leave the state for college. Ohio State and Oregon are the only out-of-state schools the four-star prospect is considering.
Performance: Bruce is as explosive as wide receivers come. His 5-foot-8 stature is offset by his acceleration and his strength. It's clear that Bruce has spent plenty of time in the weight room in recent months, as he continues to get stronger while retaining his signature speed. Defenses had no answer for him on Saturday, as his quick burst and cuts across the middle left him wide open for much of the afternoon.

DB
Richard LeCounte (2017)
Riceboro (Ga.) Liberty County
Recruiting wrap: Just a sophomore, LeCounte will visit Miami, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, Auburn, Georgia State, Georgia Tech and possibly Alabama during his upcoming spring break. He plans to commit well before his senior season.
Performance: LeCounte is a hyper-athletic prospect that shined brightly on Saturday. He closes incredibly well and has an impressive vertical that is only made more functional by his surprisingly long arms. LeCounte is the type of defensive back that can take massive parts of the field away from quarterbacks, which have to think twice before launching a ball in his vicinity.

QB
Dwayne Haskins Jr.
Potomac (Md.) Bullis School
Recruiting wrap: Haskins recently visited Florida and plans to tour Alabama in the coming months. He intends to announce a commitment sometime in June.
Performance: Haskins was the most impressive quarterback at the event, and it wasn't that close. At one point during an early-afternoon game, he completed eight straight passes, some of which were crammed through tight windows. He rarely misses an open target and showed an ability to read defenses consistently well.

WR
Dionte Mullins
Miami (Fla.) Gulliver Prep
Recruiting wrap: Mullins is committed to Miami and seems likely to stick with the Hurricanes barring something unforeseen.
Performance: Mullins has had an up-and-down offseason, and Saturday was certainly a peak rather than a valley. He made a number of catches, some for scores. His most impressive snag was on a jumping catch in the back of the end zone that saw him showcase incredible awareness to get both feet down in bounds before falling. Mullins backed up his four-star ranking by turning in a truly impressive wire-to-wire performance. On the tournament's first day.

DB
Tyreke Johnson (2018)
Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian
Recruiting wrap: Johnson is just a freshman, but already has a slew of major offers. He will likely be in the discussion for the top spot in the 2018 class. He names no favorites in the process.
Performance: Johnson looks like he was built in some sort of football laboratory. He has a nearly college-ready body at 6-1, 177 and moves incredibly fluidly. He's also confident and physical, two things prospects of his age so rarely are. On Saturday, he jammed receivers at the line with ease and covered any target that was thrown his way. Johnson is a truly special prospect.

WR
Freddie Pinder
Miami (Fla.) Southridge
Recruiting wrap: Pinder is high on Miami and is also seriously considering Alabama, Louisville, South Carolina and Tennessee.
Performance: Pinder boasts fantastic height and moves so fluidly that sometimes it seems as though he's jogging. That's rarely the case, however. The 6-foot-4 receiver ripped defenses apart over the middle on Saturday and caught a handful of impressive touchdowns.
8
DB
Deion Jackson
Hallandale, Fla.
Recruiting wrap: Jackson is committed to Miami.
Performance: Jackson made the day's best defensive play early in the afternoon. After running his man out of bounds and putting him on the ground, Jackson popped back onto the field in time to make a play on the ball, slapping it out of the hands of a receiver. His physicality and size (6-1, 170) allowed his to essentially cover two players on the same snap. Jackson's size allows him to close quickly and he certainly has a mean streak in him.
9
WR
T.J. Chase
Bradenton, Florida IMG Academy
Recruiting wrap: Chase is committed to Clemson and is unlikely to change his mind.
Performance: Chase's successful offseason continued on Saturday, when he was the catalyst of a Team Tampa offense that found great success all afternoon. When defenders attempted to press Chase, he ran by them for a deep reception. When they sagged off of him, he found big yards in the middle of the field. Chase's versatility is what was most impressive, but he also made a number of impressive grabs that showcased his soft hands.
10
WR
Trevon Diggs
Gaithersburg (Md.) The Avalon School
Recruiting wrap: Diggs arrived at Saturday's event wearing an Alabama visor and shirt. He followed that up by naming the Crimson Tide his leader. He plans to visit Alabama on Apr. 3. He would also like to tour LSU, Georgia and Maryland this offseason.
Performance: Diggs' greatest strength is his acceleration. He often beats defensive backs within the first five yards of his route and is difficult to jam at the line because gambling against somebody with his speed is a massive risk. On Saturday, Diggs caught a number of passes on intermediate routes that saw him pick up first downs seemingly at will. He never showed himself to be a deep threat. Then again, he never had to.
11
DB
Elvis Hines (2017)
Haddonfield (N.J.) Paul VI
Recruiting wrap: Hines lists offers from old Dominion and Temple. Rutgers, Boston College and Pittsburgh are also in regular contact.
Performance: Hines was a bit of a surprise not just in the way that he and his team showed up at a Florida-based Tournament, but also in the way that he certainly played better than his short offer list would indicate. Hines boasts impressive technique for a 2017 prospect and is smooth in his backpedal. He doesn't shy away from contact, either. There's a lot to like about the slightly undersized sophomore (5-9, 158), not the least of which is how well he breaks on the ball.
12
WR
Rick Wells
Jacksonville (Fla.) Raines
Recruiting wrap: Wells is committed to Florida.
Performance: Another prospect that has had a massive offseason thus far, Wells rolled right along on Saturday. He made a pair of diving grabs in his team's first game and was a major part of the offense all afternoon. The Florida commit boasts a nice build (6-0, 187) and impressive upper-body strength. He's a solid route runner that gets open in a number of ways even if he lacks top-end speed.
13
DB
Saivion Smith
Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy
Recruiting wrap: Smith is committed to LSU.
Performance: Smith played a touch of safety on Saturday and looked great doing it. He may not want to hear it, but Smith would make an extremely effective college safety. So while he is capable of covering like a cornerback, that may not be the best fit for him. Smith closed well on balls that hung in the air a little too long on Saturday and flashed his superior instincts.
14
WR
Kelvin Harmon
Palmyra, N.J.
Recruiting wrap: Harmon holds four scholarship offers, the most notable of which are from Rutgers and Syracuse.
Performance: A big, bulky physical receiver at 6-2, 180, Harmon threw his body around and created space for himself all day. He is stunningly athletic for his size. And while he probably carries a touch of bad weight, he's quick out of his breaks. He was most effective in the middle of the field.
15
DB
Jamel Cook
Miami (Fla.) Miami Central
Recruiting wrap: Cook is committed to Florida State and says that Alabama and Clemson are working the hardest to pry him away from the Seminoles.
Performance: Cook, as he tends to do, played both receiver and defensive back on Saturday. He shined on both sides of the ball and made a handful of plays at safety, cornerback and receiver. He also took a few plays off here and there. When motivated, Cook used his great length and tremendous athleticism to his advantage. His future is probably at safety or even possibly linebacker if he is able to add significant weight to his 6-4, 185-pound frame.
16
QB
Brandon McIlwain
Newtown (Pa.) Council Rock North
Recruiting wrap: McIlwain is committed to South Carolina, but may take other visits this offseason.
Performance: McIlwain is barely six feet tall and isn't the most imposing quarterback in America. He is, however, incredibly accurate. On Saturday, McIlwain threw a number of perfect passes that required touch and arm strength, He showed that, despite his lack of size, he can make most every throw. His mechanics aren't perfect, but his footwork and progressions are beyond impressive.
