Illinois star names top five

Bolingbrook, Ill., running back Dale Martin has close to two dozen scholarship offers on the table. However Martin says he is seriously considering five of them at this time.
"I have 20 offers," Martin said. "A lot of them are in writing."

When asked to name the ones he is most interested in, Martin said, "I have a top five. Louisville, Iowa, Tennessee, Cal, and Wisconsin, those are the top five I'm really looking at out of the offers I have."
However there is at least one school Martin would like to land an offer from.
"Texas was always my favorite," he said. "My grandmother lives down there. If they were to give me an offer I would really consider them. But they recruit mostly Texas guys."
Martin does not plan to attend any football camps during the summer, but he has visited some schools.
"I've visited Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Notre Dame, Michigan, and Louisville," he said. "In a week or two I'm going up to Wisconsin.
"And I'm going to Tennessee and North Carolina State the first week of August. My uncle lives in North Carolina and I want to see what it's like there."
Martin is thinking about selecting a college before the beginning of his senior football season.
"I don't have a favorite yet," he said. "But I'm leaning towards committing to someone early, before the season starts. But I won't rush into it.
"If I don't find the right fit, I'll take official visits."
The 5-foot-11, 195-pound Martin rushed for 1100 yards and scored 11 times during his junior season. Martin, a speedy and elusive back with good vision, averaged over nine yards per carry.
