Illinois prospect makes his college choice

Algonquin (Ill.) Dundee-Crown junior athlete prospect Kevin Steinhaus (6-foot-3, 230 pounds) has decided to end his recruiting process early and has given Ball State University his verbal commitment. Steinhaus didn't have to look very hard or far when deciding to pledge to the Cardinals.
"I was offered by Ball State back in late March," Steinhaus said. "I committed to Ball State a few days after they offered me a scholarship. My family and I are really excited to get the recruiting process over with this early, and Ball State was exactly the school I wanted to go to to play college ball."

Ball State no question had a very serious recruiting advantage when it offered and landed Steinhaus.
"My older brother Mike already plays for Ball State as a tight end. I'm just really comfortable with the program at Ball State, and I'm also very comfortable with the coaches and everything that Ball State has to offer. I've been to Ball State several times already, and in my mind getting a chance to play for the Cardinals plus getting to play with my brother in college was just a great feeling. Ball State is a program on the rise and I wanted to be a part of that, plus having my older brother already there was an advantage for Ball State no question about it."
As far as his eventual position in college is concerned, Steinhaus was recruited by the Cardinals as an athlete prospect.
"My junior year I played tight end, and this coming year I'm going to play quarterback. The coaches from Ball State basically recruited me as an athlete type, and they project me at any number of positions. I've gone through a pretty big growth spur this off season, so they want to see where I'm at physically next year before they place me at a specific position. I'm totally fine with that and I just want to play and contribute at the next level."
Steinhaus was drawing May recruiting interest from U Conn, Penn State, Michigan State, Illinois and Northern Illinois before deciding to verbal to Ball State.
