Illinois prospect has Iowa ties

Downers Grove (Ill.) North junior safety prospect Garrett Edwards (6-foot-2, 180 pounds) has plenty of ties to the University of Iowa. Edwards, who was an invited guest at last Saturday's Iowa junior day, currently has an older brother (Tommy) on campus as well as a set of parents who are Iowa alums.
"Iowa is definitely a school that I'd consider," Edwards said. "I have plenty of family ties to the Hawkeyes, and I really enjoyed getting a chance to check things out last Saturday at Iowa."

Edwards, who led the Trojans to the 2004 Class 8A state title, talked about what impressed him on his Iowa junior day visit.
"I just like the campus at Iowa quite a bit. It's pretty compact compared to some other Big Ten schools, but it also has a feeling of a Big Ten campus. Iowa also has great facilities, from the outdoor practice fields to the indoor facilities and the weight room. Everything at Iowa is top notch facility-wise."
"I was also really impressed when the football team was introduced at halftime of the basketball game. The fans at Iowa really support it's teams, and that's really impressive to me. I also really get along well with the coaches. I had a chance to talk with Coach (Kirk) Ferentz and Coach (Lester) Erb, and the whole staff are very good guys. Iowa is recruiting me as a safety prospect."
Edwards will also fit in several additional junior day visits this winter.
"I'm planning to check out Wisconsin this Saturday, and I was invited to the Michigan junior day on Sunday but I'm still not sure if I can make that. The following weekend I'm going to go to junior days at both Purdue and Notre Dame. I'm also planning to check out Tennessee on March 12th."
