Illinois offers Jacksonville junior

The recruiting cycle has already started for Jacksonville (Fla.) Bartram Trail cornerback Xavier Brewer, a prospect to watch for the Class of 2008. The All-Duval County selection recently picked up his first scholarship offer, from a Big Ten program.
"Recruiting is going pretty good right now," Brewer said. "I just got my first offer from Illinois."

The 6-foot, 180-pounder, who ran a 4.33-second 40-yard dash at a camp at Florida State University last year, will head to Georgia Tech this weekend to check out the Yellow Jackets unofficially.
"I'm heading up to Georgia Tech for a Junior Day on Saturday," Brewer said. "They are showing a lot of interest along with UCF."
There are three other programs that Brewer has interest in.
"Clemson, Georgia and Florida," he said.
There are several aspects of Brewer's game that he feels are strengths.
"I have good speed," he said. "I feel like I can zone with anybody and I have good toughness. I don't have anything planned right now. Going to see who shows me the most interest."
The third team All-State selection had six interceptions as a junior.
