Illinois offers in-state lineman

After hosting Plainfield (Ill.) North offensive tackle Cody Conway on-campus this past weekend, Illinois coaches visited the 6-foot-6, 280-pound prospect at his school and brought along good news.
"Illinois was at my work out," Conway reported. "They just offered [Tuesday]."

Conway had previously reeled in offers from Syracuse and Central Michigan, but the offer from the in-state Big Ten school has his attention.
"The big thing was that would be close to home and my parents would be close, be able to see all the games," Conway said. "The two majors I am considering going into are Pharmacy and Engineering, and they have a pre-Pharmacy and they are pretty good for Engineering."
The recent visit to Champaign also heightened Conway's interest in the Illini.
"They had their spring game on Saturday and that's when I was there," he said. "It was fun because before the game we got a tour of the campus and got to see what it was like."
The offer from Illinois came on the first day of the Spring Evaluation Period, and still early in his recruitment.
"I don't know when things are going to move closer to the time I commit, but me and my parents have been talking about schools and we're trying to find where we think it will be the best fit," Conway said.
Shortly before attending Illinois' spring game, Conway made his way over to the other in-state Big Ten school.
"I was at Northwestern for practice last week Thursday," Conway said. "I am pretty sure they are interested. Their offensive line coach is coming [Wednesday] to watch workouts."
Conway will continue his campus visits later this week when he travels out to see the first school that offered him a scholarship.
"This Thursday I leave for the weekend and I am going to Syracuse," Conway said. "I just want to see what is going on out there and talk to some of the coaches in-person."
