Illinois next on Whites schedule

Cincinnati (Ohio) LaSalle four-star 2017 running back Jarell White has his next game visit planned, and it will be to a school that has already offered.

"Illinois, on October 3rd, I'll be going up there," White said. "I know they have a new running backs coach. He wanted me to come out again and have a conversation, so that will be nice."
White noted that the pre-season dismissal of head coach Tim Beckman has not affected his outlook on Illinois. He will be making that trip to Champaign in early October with his parents.
A Rivals 250 prospect in the 2017 class, White is also looking to schedule visits to Kentucky and Louisville for later this fall. He took his first unofficial visit of the season to Michigan State on Sept. 12 for the Spartan's home match-up with Oregon.
"I enjoyed Michigan State and enjoy that atmosphere," White said. "I went up there last season for their game against Ohio State. This was more about talking to the coaches and just enjoying myself.
"I talked to the defensive coordinator, Harlon Barnett. He is my recruiting coordinator. I also talked to a couple of the DB coaches. I am pretty much getting recruited as an athlete right now by Michigan State."
The 5-foot-10, 200-pound White rushed for over 1,500 yards on a state championship team as a sophomore, but a new coaching staff at LaSalle has moved him primarily to defense and colleges are giving him a look on that side of the football as well.
"Right now they just want to see more film on defense," White said. "I am getting recruited as an athlete right now, but a lot of schools are thinking running back. I don't mind, whichever (position)."
Despite limited touches on the offensive side of the football, White has still managed to find the end zone five times in his first four games, scoring via punt return, a returned fumble recovery and rushing. Defensively he has tallied 25 tackles.
Five schools have offered White, but since Sept. 1 he has seen new interest from Pittsburgh, Notre Dame and Florida State.
