Porter talked about why he decided to recommit to the Illini.
"I really wanted to see what Illinois had to offer, and I felt that I needed to do that before I signed my letter of intent this Wednesday. I had an amazing official visit this past weekend and I decided that Illinois offered me too good of an opportunity that I couldn't pass up."
"I came away really impressed with the Illinois staff as well as the support that is in place at Illinois. Ron Zook is definitely a player's coach, and I just feel that I can approach him at anytime with any issues or problems I might be having. I really like the coaching staff at Illinois. I just think that I'm going to be a great fit at Illinois."
"The whole Centennial celebration this weekend for the basketball team was amazing. The stands were just a sea of orange, and I figured that if we can get those fans over to the football side for support, no one will stop us. It was truly an amazing event to witness."
Porter admits that changing his originally college decision was no easy task.
"It was a hard thing to do, no question. I felt that I did the right thing, and I called the Ball State coaches earlier in the week and let them know I was taking the visit to Illinois. The coaches at Ball State were very understanding and supportive, and I am thankful for that. I've gotten calls of support for my decision from several people, and in the end Illinois is the best fit for me. I'm very happy to be an heading to Champaign to play for the Illini."
