Illinois athlete draws more interest

Downers Grove (Ill.) North junior safety prospect Garrett Edwards (6-foot-2, 180 pounds) has continued to draw additional recruiting interest this spring. Edwards, who took his first crack at the ACT test last Saturday fills us in on his latest recruiting news.
"I wasn't able to make any visits this past weekend because I took the ACT test on Saturday," Edwards said. "I thought the test went pretty well overall, and I feel good about how everything went."

Edwards, who led the Trojans to the 2004 Class 8A state title, will start a busy spring and summer schedule this Saturday at the University of Iowa.
"I'm heading to the University of Iowa this Saturday. I'm looking forward to watching the Hawkeyes practice on Saturday. My brother (Tommy) goes to Iowa and my parents are also alumni, so Iowa has always had a strong appeal in my house. Iowa has been sending me regular hand-written mail over the last few weeks and they seem pretty interested."
The Hawkeyes aren't the only school that has picked up sending Edwards hand-written mail.
"Iowa has been sending me hand-written mail along with Purdue, Indiana, Boston College, Illinois and Notre Dame. I'm also starting to get mail recently from North Carolina, Kansas, Kansas State and Texas Tech. I'm still getting regular mail from most of the Big Ten and MAC schools."
Edwards will also make a handful of spring visits over the next few weeks.
I'm definitely going to try to get to Illinois over the next week or two. I'm also looking at attending the Notre Dame spring game on April 23rd. I'm also going to try hard to get to Wisconsin before the end of April."
Has Edwards thought about his summer camp plans yet?
"Yeah, I'm looking to camp this summer at Iowa, Wisconsin and Notre Dame for now. I might add a few more one day camps during May. Several schools are looking at me as either a quarterback or as a safety. The schools recruiting me as a quarterback want me to come to camp so they can see me throw."
