Illini pick up huge commit

The rumors over the last week have been ongoing about Jacksonville (Fla.) Ed White athlete/cornerback Guesly Dervil that he is committed to Illinois and that he isn't so Rivals.com went straight to the source to find out what he had to say.
"I am committed to Illinois," Dervil said. "I committed a couple of days ago, I kept going back and forth between Illinois, Alabama and West Virginia, but in the end Illinois was the best for me."

The 5-foot-11, 180-pound Dervil runs the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds, has a 320-pound bench press and 490-pound squat. He also has a 35-inch vertical jump.
"Playing in the Big Ten was something that really sold me on Illinois," Dervil said. "Playing against schools like Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State every week is a big thing and I think that I could go in early at Illinois and help them beat teams like that."
As a junior he collected 78 tackles and had five interceptions. He is ranked as the nation's No. 32 athlete and the No. 52 player in the state of Florida by Rivals.com. He also had a strong showing at the CaliFlorida Bowl earlier this month.
"I already knew the coaches from when they were at Florida so I had a good relationship with them," Dervil said. "The coaches didn't have much to do with my decision though, it was the school that I liked and I would have gone there even if those guys weren't there."
