Illini get a big-time player

Bayonne, N.J., four-star receiver Kenny Britt had taken official visits to Virginia, Rutgers and Illinois, but it was an visit this past weekend to Illinois that ended up selling him on where he needs to spend his future at.
"Kenny has committed to Illinois," Britt's father, Ricky Rodriguez, said. "He actually committed to them on Wednesday. He's a special kid and was looking for somebody that was going to stick with him. He wanted to play for a special school.

"And that school is Illinois."
Britt, ranked as the nation's No. 22 receiver prospect and the No. 5 player in New Jersey, still is working hard at getting qualified academically and Illinois wanted to stick with him while he completes his senior season.
Britt also had offers from North Carolina and West Virginia. UVA had recently pulled away from recruiting Britt heavily, but in the end the Illini pushed the hardest for the pledge.
That commitment apparently led to a commitment from the talented pass-catcher.
"He's athletic and explosive," Bayonne coach Rick Rodriguez said. "He's a big-time player."
