ILB Tongo lands his first offer

Naperville (Ill.) North junior inside linebacker prospect Osahon Tongo (6-foot-3, 225 pounds) made three unofficial visits last weekend to three different Big Ten conference campuses. Tongo also returned with his first scholarship offer from the Northwestern Wildcats.
"I made an unofficial visit to Northwestern last week," Tongo said. "I had a chance to watch a spring practice at Northwestern, plus I also was able to sit in on the linebackers meeting. After practice I had a chance to talk with head coach Randy Walker and linebackers coach Pat Fitzgerald, and they told me that they were offering me a scholarship."

Tongo talked about his impressions of the Wildcats as well as landing his first scholarship offer.
"It's definitely exciting to get an early offer from Northwestern. I really liked the coaches at Northwestern, they seem very down to earth and easy to talk with. We also had a chance to talk with a few academic advisors, and academically Northwestern has a lot to offer. I'm excited about getting an offer from the Wildcats."
Tongo also made unofficial visits last weekend to Purdue and Wisconsin.
"Purdue was really nice overall. I had a chance to talk with head coach Joe Tiller and my recruiting coach Mark Hagen, and I like the coaches at Purdue. I was able to watch a spring practice, then I also had a chance to talk with some of the players including Kyle Williams. The players seemed really nice. I also liked the campus at Purdue and the facilities are also solid."
"Wisconsin is a really great campus and Madison is a cool town. It was actually better than what I imagined. The facilities at Wisconsin are great, and the coaches are very cool. The program, players and staff at Wisconsin just seem very classy."
"I was really glad that I had a chance to see all three schools up close. It definitely helps in trying to see what each school as to offer."
Tongo is also planning a few more spring events.
"I'm heading to Illinois for it's spring game on April 23rd, then I'm also taking an unofficial visit to Stanford on April 29th. I'm also going to the Ann Arbor Nike Camp on May 7th."
