ILB Tongo adds third offer

Naperville (Ill.) North junior inside linebacker prospect Osahon Tongo (6-foot-3, 225 pounds) had another busy weekend, making an unofficial visit to Stanford. Tongo also landed his third scholarship offer last Wednesday and talks about his latest offer.
"Georgia Tech has offered me a scholarship," Tongo said. "I found out on Wednesday last week that Georgia Tech has decided to offer me a scholarship. The coaches from Georgia Tech called my head coach (Larry McKeon) and told him that they were offering me a scholarship."

Tongo is excited about landing his third offer from the Yellow Jackets.
"I know that Georgia Tech has an excellent engineering school which is really important to me. They also are located in Atlanta and it's a pretty urban campus area which is something different from most schools that are recruiting me. I'm really excited to get an offer from Georgia Tech and I'll definitely check them out and see what they have to offer."
Tongo made an unofficial visit to Stanford over this past weekend and came away impressed with the Cardinal.
"Stanford was just a really great visit. They have an extremely nice campus, and my Mom also really loved the church and the campus at Stanford. Stanford has great facilities and they are also in the process of renovating and adding onto everything football related. Stanford is really a big campus, bigger than I thought for a private school. Academically Stanford really has a lot to offer, and I was impressed at the different majors that are offered including the chance to customize a major."
"I had a chance to meet with the coaches and some of the players at Stanford, and everyone was just great. I had a chance to hang out and talk with O.J. Oshinowo who plays defensive line at Stanford and who played at Neuqua Valley. The coaches seem really excited about recruiting me at Stanford. They mentioned that they liked my junior tape and that they are looking for players with heart, and I feel that I fit the description. The Stanford coaches will be making an in school visit in May. Did I also mention how great the weather was all weekend in Palo Alto?"
Speaking of May, Tongo landed his first call on Sunday evening from the University of Illinois.
"The coaches from Illinois called tonight and I talked with head coach Ron Zook and Curt Mallory. We talked about the Illinois program, and that the coaches really want me to play for the Illini next year. The coaches talked about being a part of the rebuilding process at Illinois and how important this class is to the coaches. It was a really good talk."
Tongo was expected to attend the Nike Camp in Ann Arbor this coming Saturday, but those plans are on hold for now.
"I've caught a pretty bad cold a few weeks back or something, because I thought that my ears were going to explode on the plane ride back home. I've also been having some problems breathing over the last week or so. For now I'm not sure if I'll make the Nike Camp. I really don't want to go and participate unless I'm 100 percent ready to go on Saturday."
Osahon Tongo currently has scholarship offers from Georgia Tech, Northwestern and Illinois.
