IHOP still waiting on offers

New Orleans (La.) St. Augistine offensive lineman William Russ is a big man. Though he has not picked up his first scholarship offer yet, he is getting plenty of attention and is a prospect to keep an eye on this fall.
“I still do not have any offers yet,” Russ said. “I think that Auburn was real close at one point, but I didn’t go to their camp and I think that hurt me. I couldn’t make it up there because I did not have a ride and I haven’t heard as much from them since.”

Russ is a 6-foot-5, 320-pound behemoth who runs the 40-yard dash in 5.5 seconds. He goes by the nickname “IHOP” which are the call letters for the International House of Pancakes. He was dubbed the nickname because he pancakes so many defensive lineman on Friday nights.
“Right now my top schools are Miami, Auburn, Clemson, South Carolina and Memphis. Right now I won’t say that I have a No.1. I am pretty open right now, I am just looking for a school that will give me an opportunity to play for them.
He was unable to attend any camps this summer due to his working with a personal trainer. He has gotten his bench press up to 300 pounds and still has an impressive 600-pound squat.
“I really don’t want to make an early decision,” Russ said. “I just want to play somewhere. I am looking for that first offer right now. The school that steps up and offer first is one that I will keep in mind, no matter who it is. I would really like the chance to play early in my career too.”
