Hutchings waiting for more offers

Malik Hutchings has never played a down of varsity football.
That has not stopped Hawaii, UTEP and UC Davis from offering him already and Hutchings, whose brother Michael is a freshman linebacker at USC, said there is a lot more interest coming early in his senior season.

The Antioch (Calif.) Deer Valley linebacker said he's receiving some Pac-12 interest but all the coaches said they want to see him play some games before they would consider an offer. Still, Hutchings is excited things have picked up.
"I only have three offers right now but I'm getting heavily recruited from Washington State," Hutchings said. "They're on me heavily and I get something from them every day.
"Boise State is still on me heavy. Colorado has been contacting me along with UNLV and San Jose State and some others."
Hutchings, a 6-foot-4, 230-pound prospect, said he's strongly considering official visits to Hawaii and UTEP but he wants to wait on scheduling others until he sees if other offers come in during his senior season.
Getting on the field could be the most important thing for Hutchings.
"A lot of the schools want to see me early on because this is my first year playing high school football," Hutchings said. "All the recruiters say they want to see me play a couple games before they would offer me.
"I definitely want to wait it out. I'm going to wait it out and I probably won't make a commitment to anybody until after the season. I want to wait it out."
