Hutcherson nearing decision

He claims a total of seven scholarship offers, but Darrion Hutcherson's recruitment is much simpler than that. The Copiah-Lincoln (Miss.) Community College tight end's decision-making process has hit the final stage.

"It's down to Mississippi State and West Virginia," Hutcherson said.
That isn't exactly groundbreaking news. Hutcherson, who signed with Auburn out of high school in 2012, has favored the Mountaineers and Bulldogs for some time. He's already visited Mississippi State and will make his final trip this weekend.
"The visit is still going down this weekend," Hutcherson said. "No doubt about it. I want to get there. They've been recruiting me ever since high school. I've got a great relationship there and I think I fit right in there."
Hutcherson's West Virginia visit is already in the books. It took place this fall. And while plenty of time has passed since, the three-star prospect says everything is still fresh in his mind.
"West Virginia was live," Hutcherson said. "It was a great game. It was a good time. It has everything you'd expect from a big Division-I school.
"The SEC thing doesn't matter to me anymore. Coming out of high school, playing in the SEC was important. Everybody wants to play there. Now I only have two years to prove my talent. So now it's about where I get on the field."
And so the question becomes as follows: which school sets Hutcherson up best to show his skill set? When he figures out the answer to that, he'll likely make an announcement.
"Right now, it seems like either one," Hutcherson said. "It doesn't matter. I know for sure that I would be, like, a standout if I played at West Virginia. I feel like Mississippi State's offense has a lot of good players, but I feel like I could be good there, too. I just feel like I would be a real standout at West Virginia."
Hutcherson has set no timetable for a commitment and could make his choice at any moment following his Mississippi State visit.
