Although a solid commitment to Washington since early December, Compton (Calif.) Dominguez running back Brandon Johnson took a visit to Arizona State this past weekend to have something to compare to the Huskies.
Johnson, 5-10, 180 pounds had another big season earning all-state honors for the second year in a row. He committed to the Huskies over offers from Oregon, Arizona, Oregon State and several other schools.
"My commitment to Washington is still solid," Johnson said. "I just wanted to take another visit to have something to compare to my Washington trip.
"ASU was cool, I had a great visit. I know a lot of the players on the team and even played Pop Warner with a couple of the guys like Rodney Glass and Nate Kimbrough.
"That was probably the highlight for me, just hanging out with the guys on the team because I felt like they were a lot like me and Tempe is a lot like where I'm from. I was really comfortable with everyone there and also enjoyed seeing the campus and the football facilities.
"Coach Christian has been recruiting me for awhile and I like him and the rest of the staff. I already knew Coach Yarber because he was at Washington when I committed there but it has been Coach Christian who has been talking with me.
"The visit was great but I'm still committed to Washington. There's a reason why I committed to the Huskies and they have a great program over there. I think the coaches will be by on Thursday for a visit. I'm not sure if ASU is coming by or not, I didn't set anything else up with them before I left."
