Huskers get Lucky

The last time Rivals.com spoke with North Hollywood, Calif., running back Marlon Lucky, just a few weeks ago, he was planning on taking at least two or three more trips before making his college choice. That has all changed and the talented back is Big 12 bound.
“I committed to Nebraska about an hour ago,” Lucky said.

“It has been pretty crazy around here, word travels fast I guess. It just felt right to me. The feeling I had at Nebraska was just so unreal. They say when you know the school is right for you, you get that special feeling and I definitely got it at Nebraska.
“It was a tough decision for me because I really liked USC a lot as well. Back in the summer, I had no plans of staying close to home and really wanted to leave the area. I’m not from here so it wasn’t like a grew up a big fan of any team. Then I got to know the coaches and the team is so strong, I thought I would end up a Trojan.
“Nebraska and SC were tied for the last few weeks but in my heart, I just felt like I was supposed to be a Cornhusker. I think I can play early there and make a big impact as a true freshman and that was really the deciding factor. I think I can have an Adrian Peterson type impact at Nebraska and I truly believe the program is going to turn thing around. The chance to be a big part of that is very exciting to me.”
This is a huge pickup for the Huskers as Lucky is as gifted as any running back in the country. He’s an every down back who runs with speed and power and has great hands out of the backfield. He’s a solid 200 pounds and is physical enough to make an impact as a true freshman.
Academically, Lucky is working hard to improve his status and those close to him are confident he’ll qualify. He’s coming off a semester where he recorded a 3.3 GPA and is continuing to take classes over and should have his core GPA in the 2.4-2.6 range by the end of the year.
