Huskers drop commitment

Kilgore (Texas) College defensive tackle Byron Smith said on Sunday he was a solid commitment for Nebraska. Have things changed for the three-star rated defensive standout?
"I'm not going to Nebraska," Smith said. "That's all I'll say."

Smith would not elaborate on the reason for the sudden lack of interest from the new Husker coaching staff.
The reason, according to an Omaha World-Herald report Wednesday afternoon was a police matter the Kilgore police were looking into concerning Smith. The 6-foot-2, 295-pound Smith has not been charged or arrested.
Smith also has received attention from Arizona, Oklahoma and Texas A&M. It is unknown at this time whether those programs will continue to pursue the three-star rated tackle.
Smith recorded 67 tackles and 9 sacks during the 2003 season.
