Milledgeville (Ga.) Baldwin offensive guard Maurice Hurt is one of the biggest prospects in the South, literally. He's got the offers to prove it and he's narrowed his list down to five lucky schools.
"My top five are LSU, Florida, Oklahoma, Auburn and Mississippi State," Hurt said. "This top five is pretty solid, I don't see it changing a lot. I'm not saying the others are out of it, but I'll probably be going to one of those five schools."
The 6-foot-2.5, 342-pound Hurt attended the NIKE camp in Athens where he ran the 40-yard dash in 5.74 seconds, ran a five second shuttle and posted a 21-inch vertical jump.
"My goal is to make a decision before Christmas for sure," Hurt said. "I may be ready to go by October or November, but I will definitely decide before Christmas. I will take at least two or three of my official visits before I make any kind of decision."
Hurt is ranked as a three-star prospect and the No. 32 prospect in the state of Georgia by Rivals.com.
Hurt is very close to former teammates Nick and Jarvis Kyles. Nick signed with Alabama and Jarvis with Mississippi State in February and one of the twins has been making a strong push with Hurt.
"Jarvis is probably the main reason I am looking at Mississippi State," Hurt said. "I talk to him a lot and he is always telling me about it. I have talked to coach Croom a few times and I like the way he does things and how he goes about stuff."
In addition to the NIKE camp in Athens, Hurt also attended camp at LSU over the summer.
"I had a good time down there," Hurt said. "I liked the coaches and the school and stuff. I had a real good feeling about LSU when I left and they are definitely in the mix. I will probably go back down there for an official visit."
