Hurricanes land No. 1 FB Realus George

Almost three weeks ago, Miami extended an offer to Realus George and while excited about the offer, at that time his focus was on his season. George and his teammates at Atlanta (Ga.) Pace Academy played their final game of the 2017 season Friday night and it didn't take the long for the No. 1 fullback to turn his focus towards recruiting.

He hopped on a plane early Saturday morning for Coral Gables and George saw the Hurricanes trample over the Irish of Notre Dame.

George's mind was made up before this visit, but his time in south Florida just validated him of his decision.

"I am now committed to Miami," said George. "The only reason I had not committed to Miami before now was because I made it a priority to focus on my last season of high school football.

"When we lost Friday night, I realized it’s time for the next chapter."

George knew the minute Miami offered that he would strongly consider them. They check every box for him.

"Miami has everything I’m looking for in a university. They have top notch academics and they have guys who want to win as bad as me. They have a great head coach and they have some of the best tradition in college football.

"Miami plays hard-nosed football too. Guys are very passionate on the team about winning, the fans are die-hard there and that’s the type of environment I want to play in for the next four years of my life."

Some may think George is a little young to know about some of the legends that played at Miami in the past, but he isn't. He knows quite a few and he is hoping to put his name on the list of Hurricane greats by the time his career there ends.

"It feels great to be able to join #Storm18 and be a part of a community with so many greats," said George. "Many of my personal all-time favorite players are Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Sean Taylor, and Warren Sapp. It is exciting to play at the same school those guys played at."

George is a natural leader and it may be hard to find someone who has worked harder to get where he is now. He can't wait to showcase his attitude, drive and skill-set in the ACC.

"These four years of high school went by just as fast as people said they would and during so my coaches worked me and taught me so much. I’ve grown to be a way better football player than when I came in as a freshman. I’m better because my football I.Q. is higher and I learned how to use different techniques in different situations.

"Me going to Miami will help them out with short yardage situations and and their type of run game. I can catch the ball out the backfield, flex out into the slot, and of course run down hill and lead block.

"I’m a natural leader and help guys around me get better as much as I can."
