Hurricane Katrina forces schedule changes
With hundreds of thousands in Louisiana and Mississippi dealing with the effects of Hurricane Katrina, college football schedules are being adjusted so that proper attention can be placed where it belongs.
Five games have been postponed, including Saturday's North Texas at LSU game and Sunday's Tulane at Southern Mississippi game.

The Tulane-Southern Miss game has been rescheduled for Thanksgiving weekend on Saturday, Nov. 26. The season opener for the two Conference USA squads now becomes the final game for both.
Finding a date to play the North Texas-LSU game will not be so simple. North Texas has games scheduled for both of LSU's open dates, Sept. 17 and Oct. 29. That leaves Dec. 3, the week after LSU closes the regular season against Arkansas. However, if the Tigers win the SEC West as many expect they will, they will be in Atlanta for the SEC Championship game on Dec. 3. But for now that is the least of anyone's worries.
"The scope of this tragedy is becoming more evident as time passes, and LSU's focus is on assisting in the recovery effort of our state," said LSU chancellor Sean O'Keefe. "LSU is a primary evacuation site and we are not going to conduct any activities that could deter from our mission of assisting in the recovery mission."
Nicholls State, located in Thibodaux, La., has canceled its Saturday game at Utah State, and it will not be rescheduled. Also canceled is Southern University's game Saturday at McNeese State in Lake Charles, La. Jacksonville's game Thursday night at Hammond -- located between New Orleans and Baton Rouge -- has also been postponed indefinitely.
