Hurns names local leader

Allen Hurns is an impressive wide receiver prospect from Miami Carol City High School. Hurns and his teammates had a rough opening game, as they faced one of the state's top teams in Miami Northwestern.
"We lost 27-6," Hurns said. "I had two receptions for 40 yards. It was a pretty frustrating night. I was open but our quarterback had no time to throw the ball. Todd (Chandler) and some of the other guys were wrecking havoc. It doesn't get any easier this week. We play Booker T. Washington."

While Hurns may not have enjoyed Friday night he certainly loved what he saw on Labor Day Night, as Miami took on Florida State in Tallahassee.
"That was a great game. I loved it. The Miami offense looked good, especially Jacorry (Harris). He played with a lot of poise.
"Miami is the team to beat for me. I have always loved them and I have wanted to play for them since I was a child. I have a good relationship with coaches there to.
"Right now they are my leader. I also like West Virginia, Ole Miss, Pitt and Central Florida. I guess that's my top five. I still have not set up any (official) visits."
