Hunter White makes his choice

We wondered all year what was taking so long for a school to offer Huntington Beach (Calif.) Edison two way standout Hunter White. Following another outstanding season, White picked up four quick offers and recently made his decision without even taking a single official visit.
White, 6-0, 200 pounds earned all-state honors a year ago and looks good to repeat that honor following this past season. The athlete earned Sunset league MVP honors as well as 1st team all-county after putting up big numbers on both sides of the ball.

On defense, White totaled 104 tackles, six sacks and two interceptions, both of which he returned for scores. At wide receiver, the athlete caught 74 balls for 1,201 yards eight touchdowns but will play on the defensive side of the ball in college.
"I committed Monday night to Boise State," White said. "I wasn't planning on committing this year because I hadn't even been to Boise before and really wanted to take all my visits. I had a trip this weekend to Nevada and then was going to visit Washington State (Jan. 12). All of those schools along with Colorado State and Villanova offered and I really thought I would take my time with the decision.
"Then I got a call from Coach Peterson (BSU head coach) on the bus after their Bowl game with Oklahoma. The fact that he would take time out to call me after such a big win really meant a lot. Even though I never visited Boise before, my dad has a good friend who lives there and played there and he said I would absolutely love it.
"Plus I've talked with a lot of the players on the team who are from Orange County, guys like Marty Tadman, Orlando Scandrick and Jeremy Childs and they all love it there so I felt comfortable making my decision to commit. Boise State has a great program and they really showed it when they beat Oklahoma. That game was just incredible and I'm really excited to be a part of their program. They're recruiting me for weak side linebacker and I think I'll fit in very well there.
"The coaches told me they didn't care if I still wanted to take my trips but after thinking about it, I've decided I'm not going to do that. My trip to Boise will be (Jan. 19) and that's the only one I plan on taking. I think the coaches are excited about that and I didn't feel right about taking other visits while being committed to another school."
