Position: Wide Receiver and Cornerback
Size and Speed: Humphrey is 6-foot-4 and 200 pounds. He has been timed at 4.50 seconds in the 40-yard dash. As a sophomore, Humphrey won the Class 2A state title in the triple jump with a mark of 44-feet, 3 1/4 inches.
Honors: Humphrey earned first-team all-conference honors for his return abilities. He also was named second-team all-state for his skills as well.
Favorite Schools: Humphrey already has one scholarship in his hands, from Missouri. Kansas, Kansas State, Indiana and Arkansas are also pursuing Humphrey.
Skinny: Jerrill Humphrey will be one of the most highly recruited players in the state of Missouri for the Class of 2004. The question is, which sport will it be for?
"Jerrill is already receiving attention for his skills in both football and basksetball," Highland coach Kevin Hillman said. "If he keeps up his track talent, he'll get some looks for that too.
"I think he is leaning more toward football right now. But there is a long time until he has to come to a decision. He is just good all around and he can use his size to help him get in good situations against smaller guys."
Humphrey's receiving talents are hidden somewhat by the offense Highland runs.
"We don't throw the ball a lot," Hillman said. "When you have a guy as talented as he is you need to find a way to get the ball in his hands, and we'll work on doing that more in different ways this year. The opportunities for him are very good if he gets the ball and has the chance to make a play with it."
Humphrey's best game of his junior season came against South Shelby (Mo.) when he rushed for 242 yards and six touchdowns on offense and picked off two passes from his cornerback spot.
