Hughes takes in big MD win

Rivals250 linebacker Travis Hughes checked out one of his finalists this past week. The Virginia Beach (Va.) Kempsville star made the trek up to Maryland to see the Terps victory over Navy.
"It was pretty good," he said. "I can't really complain about it. I got to see my brother play.

"The win's gotta have an impact. Looking at all these teams, I was assessing the tenacity of their calls and getting a feel for everybody on the field."
Hughes went further about the trip.
"I was actually impressed by the fan support Maryland had," he said. "It was crazy. The whole parking lot was filled with red. That was my first time actually seeing that and I've been to a couple games since eighth grade. This last game was pretty big for them."
While Hughes was impressed by Maryland's victory, he maintains there is no change at the top.
"I'm still dissecting everything," he said. "Right now North Carolina is still my favorite. The fact Coach (John Blake) stepped down affects me a bit. I still want to see what goes on with all of that. We're going to ride that out a little more and I'm going to play it all by ear."
Hughes heads back up to Maryland this week for his first official visit.
"I'm going to take my official there and this should be more fun cause it's just for me," he said. "I'll be able to be with my brother and hopefully they'll pull out a win.
"I want to see them progress on the football field. I'm glad they got the win over Navy, now will they do what they are supposed to do. They should dominate this game."
