Hughes makes the final call

New Cincinnati coach Brian Kelly knows it's important to keep some of the top players in Ohio at home to play for the Bearcats.
And one of the biggest targets left in state was Gahanna (Ohio) Lincoln tight end John Hughes.

Hughes visited this weekend and decided to end the recruiting process.
"I just committed to Cincinnati this morning," Hughes, who is 6-foot-2 and 260 pounds, said. "It's a great program, and I really like coach Kelly. I also like that it's close to home."
Hughes at one point was committed to Michigan State and had offers from West Virginia, Akron, Ball State, Marshall and Toledo, but with the changes in East Lansing both parties seemed to part ways with each other.
"I was down there at Cincinnati this weekend, and I really liked it," Hughes said. "We toured the weight room, and my host was really nice. I felt right at home. I think it's the right place for me."
