Three-star safety Xavier Hughes holds seven scholarships. The 6-foot-1, 158-pounder is beginning to consider visits. Does he have any idea where he will be headed?
"I have seven offers from West Virginia, Akron, Buffalo, Eastern Michigan, Ohio, Temple and Kent State," he said. "I was actually starting to talk about visits. I have to talk it over with my dad.
"I haven't planned anything yet. I'll probably take the visits later in the year. I'm looking at taking all five of my officials."
Currently three schools are sticking out to the Germantown (Md.) Seneca Valley prospect?
"I like West Virginia a lot. Just the history and name of the school, that stands out. I like how they play," he said. "I like the coaches at Eastern Michigan and Temple too. They are laid back and seem cool, down-to-earth."
The No. 72 safety in the country is preparing for the upcoming season.
"We just had a scrimmage against the No. 1 team in the state, Quince Orchard and tied them," he said. "We were missing five of our starters that'll be back this week. Honestly, we are loaded. I have no doubt we can win the state championship.
"I have improved a lot. I'm more comfortable on defense. I just want to work on my open field tackling more."
