Linebacker Hugh D'Imperio has narrowed things down to two schools. Does one of them hold an edge over the other?
"Michigan State and Virginia Tech are the two I'm really down to," the 6-foot-5, 230-pound linebacker from Sewell (N.J.) Washington Township said. "Those two have really separated themselves from the other schools. They're pretty even when I compare them to one another, but I'd give a slight edge to Michigan State, at least at the moment."
D'Imperio has an excellent linebacker frame and runs the 40-yard dash in an impressive 4.6 seconds. He also bench presses 325 pounds, has a 31-inch vertical leap and has scored a 1000 on the SAT.
"Michigan State has really impressed me this season," he said. "Everyone was writing them off coming into the year, and you couldn't really blame them. But the new coaching staff has got them playing with a lot more enthusiasm and aggressiveness. They're attacking their opponents and surprising a lot of people.
"Virginia Tech is a very established program. Coach Beamer has done a great job there, and it's a good place to go for defensive players. They're aggressive in every part of the game. I like the academics at both places."
D'Imperio plans on visiting Michigan State on December 12th and may set up other official visits before long.
"I might visit schools other than those two," he said. "But those two really stand out as my leaders. Things could change I guess, but now it looks like it's going to be between those two."
