Huge WR Webb hauls in first offer

Back in late January, wide receiver Martell Webb out of Pontiac (Mich.) Pontiac Northern took in a junior day up at Ann Arbor. The 6-foot-5, 210-pounder was impressed by the trip, but the fact that they offered him overwhelmed the huge receiver prospect.
"When I went there they toured us through the school and allowed us to talk to the coaches," he said. "I especially liked the fact that they gave us all some individual attention and I got to talk to the coaches one-on-one. I even talked to coach Carr and then he offered me. It was great because I grew up a fan of Michigan and they are my first and still only offer."

Webb hasn't pulled the trigger on a decision yet mostly because he is receiving a lot of interest as a basketball prospect too.
"I'm getting interest from schools including Memphis, Notre Dame, Michigan State, TCU, Clemson and others for basketball," he said. "I'm not sure what I'm going to do in college and I want to see what happens between now and the end of summer.
"I like basketball a lot because of the big game atmosphere and crowd. I grew up a basketball fan and then later on developed a liking for football. I really like football a lot as well because it is a one-on-one sport and making a big play is a lot of fun."
During his junior year, Webb averaged 14 points, seven rebounds and three assists per game as he was named all-state.
Meanwhile in football he hauled in 500 yards receiving and seven touchdowns as he was named all-conference and honorable mention all-state. Besides the Wolverines, Webb is receiving interest from Michigan State, Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana.
This spring and summer Webb plans to take in the Nike Camp at Ohio State, Adidas Camp at Notre Dame and a Michigan football camp.
