In a time when college coaches are looking for tall, athletic wide receivers, junior Jamal Custis of Philadelphia (Pa.) Neumann-Goretti should be quite busy in the coming months. At 6-foot-6 and 210-pounds, Custis is off to an impressive start and looking to take a few visits.
"I'm getting a lot of interest from Rutgers, Boston College, Pitt and a few other schools," said Custis, who did not attend any summer camps because of his basketball obligations.
While he did not attend any summer camps, he is eager to hit the road this fall.
"I don't have any set up yet, but I'm about to get on them," said Custis. "I want to visit Boston College, Rutgers, West Virginia, Maryland and Miami."
With these being his first visits, Custis is looking forward to checking on a few specific things.
"I want to get to meet the staff, tour the school and discuss the future plans on me going to that specific school," he said.
Interest is growing for Custis as he is off to a quick start this fall.
"I'm second in receiving yards in southeastern Pennsylvania," said Custis. "I have six touchdowns and over 300 yards in our first four games."
One interesting note on Custis' recruitment is the possibility that he may also play basketball at the next level.
"I've thought about it," he said. "I'm just waiting to see what happens in the future. I'm looking for this year to be my breakout season and I'm already getting recruited by a few schools."
