Colby Bowman had quite the weekend.

The 2019 three-star wide receiver who has superstar potential landed offers from Stanford and Cal and also had an opportunity to tour the new Wasserman Football Center at UCLA.

It was all incredibly valuable but maybe nothing can top getting offered by Stanford for the Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco standout.

“This is a dream come true,” Bowman said. “I was up at the junior day all day with some of the Bosco 2019 boys. Toured around the whole campus, sat in position meetings, had a photo shoot. Just all the things you'd do on a visit.

“After the junior day there was a short workout in front of all the coaches. I noticed coach (David) Shaw watching me the whole time during individuals and one-on-ones. He didn't say much other than good job after the workout. After the workout there was a BBQ with the coaches and just a hangout time. Coach (Tavita) Pritchard and coach (Mike) Bloomgren pulled my family and me aside and took us into the locker room and coach Shaw was in there and that's when he offered me.”

How big was the Stanford offer for Bowman, who has been exceptional at numerous 7on7 events this summer?

“Stanford had always been No. 1,” Bowman said.

But the Cal offer is also big. With Berkeley’s mix of athletics and academics it’s definitely another major offer for the 2019 receiver to consider. It’s still early and a lot can happen so the Golden Bears will be closely watched this season.

“Another great offer and a school that is very high on my list,” Bowman said.

“The campus was absolutely amazing and same with the facilities. The coaches were all very welcoming and we hit it off very well. Cal being the No. 1 public school is also huge. The academics are outstanding. This offer means a lot to me.”
