Huge Carolina QB is gaining interest

Massive quarterback Derek Bryant hasn't quite received the recruiting interest of the other top quarterbacks in the state of North Carolina. Still, the 6-foot-4, 218-pounder had one of the better statistical seasons last year accounting for over 3,300-yards and 32 touchdowns.
"I did pretty well, I was all-conference," he stated. "I think I showed I'm a leader and I have good arm strength. I still want to definitely work on my quickness."

Bryant has been the only quarterback at Carrboro, which opened their doors when he was a freshman.
Being at a new school can sometimes cause prospects to fall a bit under the radar. That hasn't hurt Bryant too much to date.
"I've talked to a lot of coaches," he said. "I've been in touch with Virginia, Illinois, East Carolina and Wake Forest.
"I'm definitely going to Illinois on April 24th. I'm headed to East Carolina in a couple weeks on March 27th. I also plan to go to Duke and Virginia in early June."
Growing up near Raleigh/Durham, Bryant grew up a fan of the Blue Devils.
"I'm from North Carolina and have always been a Duke fan," he said. "I like Duke. I've been there a couple times already and seeing the atmosphere of the games, it's good. Coach Cutcliffe is a great person and they make you feel like family.
"I can say though I like Illinois a lot too. I think it is cause of the coaching staff there. They give you a lot of information."
