Huckins has Pac-12 offer, looking for more

The Woodlands (Texas) offensive guard Jonathan Huckins is a relatively new name to the recruiting scene. However, the 6-foot-4, 306-pound junior comes from a traditionally strong program so it was only a matter of time before he was noticed by college coaches.
With spring football in full force, that attention has finally come to Huckins and he has received his first offer from a Pac-12 program.

"I got my first offer from Colorado," Huckins said. "It came a little while back - probably three or four weeks ago. I called them and they told me. "I had sent them my film like two days before. They watched my film and then they called coach (Mark) Schmid, my head coach, and I called them and they offered me."
Huckins is receiving interest from several other programs as well and could be on the verge of a couple more offers.
"Right now we've had a bunch of schools at spring practice," he said. "I heard West Virginia liked me when they saw me at practice. I don't really know all the details since we're not really allowed to talk to them a lot. I also heard Indiana liked me."
Huckins has had the opportunity to visit a pair of campuses this spring and liked what he saw at both stops.
"I visited Arizona State and Tulsa," he said. "Arizona State, that place is really nice. The campus was big but I liked it. I really liked the coaches out there too. I feel like they have a good view on what has to happen during the football season. They also run the same style offense as us so I would already know it. They're recruiting me pretty heavily.
"Tulsa was nice too. It's a smaller school but they still have a great football program. Even though it's a smaller school it's still really beautiful out there."
While Huckins is not ready to name favorites he does admit a few schools have caught his eye.
"It depends on who is interested in me and who offers," he said. "I've always liked Baylor and I talked to coach (Kendal) Briles. I went to their camp my sophomore year. I also like Houston because it's close to home. I'm going up to see Colorado on June 4 and 5 to check them out too."
