In August, three-star defensive tackle Braxton Hoyett committed to Mississippi State over Miami. Hoyett cited the coaching staff and proximity to home as big reasons he chose the Bulldogs.

Hoyett said schools are still recruiting him despite his commitment. "I talk to Tennessee and Auburn," stated Hoyett. "I went to an Auburn game this year. I spoke to Coach (Charlie) Harbison and he said he is going to try to visit me real soon."
The rugged interior lineman said even if Auburn offered he wouldn't commit because he is "100%" to Mississippi State. He is working on recruiting for the Bulldogs and he has one player in mind that he wants to flip.
"I'm trying to get Cory Thomas from Tennessee to Hail State," replied Hoyett.
Thomas mentioned Mississippi State as a school he may check out for a visit. Hoyett. At last week's Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic he was talking to South Carolina commit Taylor Stallworth about joining him in Starkville. Stallworth said he will take an official to Mississippi State in January.
As a senior, the Pelham (Ala.) standout finished with 80 tackles with ten for loss and four sacks.
He tries to pattern his game after freshman Bulldog sensation Chris Jones. Hoyett said he knows he will need to work hard at the next level to have the same kind of impact as Jones.
