Hoyd close to more offers

Maryland has been talking a lot more with Greg Hoyd and an offer could be close but the Murrieta (Calif.) Vista Murrieta linebacker is still waiting for the Terrapins to come through.
Still, Hoyd is excited about his conversations with the coaching staff and there is even a chance the three-star prospect could take an unofficial visit to Maryland to check out the school.

There's no doubt interest exists on both sides.
"We're just talking right now," Hoyd said. "They just said they want to check out my transcripts and everything and see what they're going to do about it.
"I know they have a really good receiving corps. From a linebacker stance I don't know very much yet. I want to definitely take a look at the school and I like the coaches. The coaches are great. He's been there a couple years now.
"They said they want to really show me the school and they're being straight up with me."
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound linebacker who looked good at the Rivals Camp in Phoenix and other 7on7 events this off-season is excited about Maryland - he thinks the offer could be imminent - and others are showing interest as well.
Recently, the Vista Murrieta standout had a good conversation with the Northwestern coaches and Georgia Tech is also showing new interest.
"I'm pretty sure I'm going to take a trip up (to Maryland) but right now I'm talking to more schools," Hoyd said.
"I had a pretty good talk with Northwestern. They love me and they're going to share my film with the head coach and the linebackers coach. They're going to evaluate me and see what they're going to do about me. I've also heard from Georgia Tech, too."
So far, Hoyd lists offers from Duke, New Mexico State, Toledo, Utah and Washington State.
