Howeth likes coach Alford at ISU

Looking at Micah Howeth’s profile raises a disturbing question that might baffle the most experienced kinesiologist - How does a defensive end run a 4.28 shuttle, yet stumble to a 5.22 40 yard dash? It turns out that the answer is pretty simple.

“We did the shuttle before the 40-yard dash at the Nike Camp,” Howeth explained, “While I was testing for the 40, I pulled my hamstring.”
Apparently the 6-foot-3 245 pound defensive end can hop painfully at a 5.22 clip. There are no worries now, because Howeth is feeling completely recovered. He tests in two weeks, and expects to run in the 4.8 range.
Howeth has been impressive so far on his summer camp tour. However, he has yet to garner any scholarship offers. He gets regular mail from a number of schools, and mentions Ohio State, Iowa State and Kansas State prominently.
“I like Iowa State the most really,” he said. “Coach Alford and I really connect at a personal level. I really like the way he talks. We really understand each other.”
Howeth plans on going to the SMU camp on the July 26 to finish his summer workouts.
