Howard lands dream offer

Theo Howard has had good communication with the Michigan coaching staff and last week the three-star wide receiver got excellent news after talking with offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier.
The 2016 wide receiver who transferred from Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian to Westlake Village (Calif.) Westlake for his junior season had just received his latest offer from the Wolverines.

"(Westlake) coach (Jim) Benkert and I have been talking to Michigan for that whole week and then I got to practice that morning and he told me to call coach Doug (Nussmeier) at Michigan," Howard said. "I had a conversation with him and he told me he wanted to offer me.
"I had been talking to coach Dan Ferrigno the tight ends coach and (Nussmeier) told me he watched my tape and he liked the way I played. He wanted me to come down for an unofficial visit sometime during the season."
Getting to Ann Arbor during the season might not be possible but Howard said he is planning a trip there soon whether it's to see a game or to check things out during the springtime.
Michigan was a childhood favorite for Howard, who finished with four receptions for 114 yards and two touchdowns last weekend, and so this offer is something special.
"It's really big," Howard said. "I always liked them as a kid and I'm just very happy it came in. If I can't make it down during the season then I want to go down there during the spring."
So far, Howard has landed offers from Michigan, San Diego State, UCLA and Washington State. The 2016 receiver said Arizona State, Oregon State, Boise State and Maryland are all showing new interest.
